Leanna
RVT
Leanna is a valued RVT on our Oromocto team. Originally from Cross Creek, NB, she now calls the Oromocto area home, where she lives with her family and their beloved Border Collie, Tessie. When she’s not at work, you’ll often find her outdoors enjoying her favorite season—fall—taking in the beautiful colors during long walks with Tessie and her family.
A self-proclaimed coffee enthusiast, Leanna lovingly refers to it as the “sweet nectar of life.” If you ever feel like dropping off a coffee when you’re visiting the clinic, she’ll be more than happy to accept!
Leanna is also a big sports fan, with a clear Boston loyalty. She loves cheering on the Boston Bruins during hockey season and catching the Red Sox in action during the summer. We’re hoping to send her on a well-deserved trip to Boston one day to watch her favorite teams live!
Outside of sports, Leanna has a passion for music. She’s been playing the piano for years (and can definitely play more than just “Chopsticks”).
Her favorite concert experience was seeing Brett Kissel, a Canadian country star who knows how to put on an incredible show.
With her love for animals, music, and sports, Leanna brings a vibrant energy to our team—and who knows, with a few musicians at OVH, we might just start a clinic band someday!
Questions
-
What is your pets name and how did you choose it?
My dog’s name is Tessie, and she’s my dream dog. I’ve been a lifelong fan of Boston sports teams and had her name picked out for years before the perfect moment to bring her home. “Tessie” is actually the name of a song often played at Red Sox celebrations—so it’s a nod to my love of Boston and my favorite team.
-
What’s the most unusual pet you’ve worked with?
The most unusual pet I’ve worked with was a chameleon. She was absolutely fascinating, but she posed a unique challenge because she had an eye infection and needed eye drops. Treating an animal that can move each eye independently is no easy task, but it was an incredible experience!
-
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is knowing that I can help people by caring for their pets. There’s nothing more fulfilling than making a positive difference in the lives of both animals and their families.

What inspired you to pursue a career as an RVT?
I’ve always known I wanted to work with animals in some way. When I started volunteering at a veterinary clinic, I got to see firsthand the amazing work that veterinary technicians do. That experience inspired me to pursue a career as an RVT, and I’ve never looked back!

What advice would you give pet owners to ensure their pets have happy and healthy lives?
My biggest piece of advice is: research, research, research! Before getting a pet, take the time to fully understand what that animal will need. Whether it’s a cat, dog, rescue, mixed breed, or purebred, every pet has its own unique set of needs and predispositions. Choosing a pet that aligns with your lifestyle and abilities will set the foundation for a happy and healthy life for both you and your furry companion.
