Questions
-
What’s the most unusual pet you’ve ever cared for?
While working at a zoo, I had the privilege of caring for an Amur Tiger cub that required round-the-clock care. Nursing him back to health and watching him grow stronger each day remains one of the most rewarding experiences of my career as a registered veterinary technician.
-
Can you share a pet care tip or trick?
Feeding your pet a high-quality diet is essential for their overall health. Also, keep an eye on their waistline—overweight pets are at risk for developing serious health issues earlier in life. Maintaining an ideal body condition is much easier than helping them shed excess weight later on.
-
What inspired you to get into this industry?
My journey into veterinary medicine began with a personal experience. My cat faced a life-threatening urinary obstruction, and I initially didn’t realize the urgency of his condition. By the time I sought help, he was in critical shape. The veterinary team’s dedication and skill saved his life, performing a perineal urethrostomy to give him a second chance. That experience inspired me to pursue a career as a veterinary technician, and to this day, cats with urinary obstructions hold a special place in my heart.

What advancements in veterinary medicine are you most excited about?
The development of monthly injectable medications for osteoarthritis in cats and dogs is a game-changer. These treatments provide effective pain relief without the side effects of daily NSAIDs, significantly improving the quality of life for pets.

What’s your favorite animal and why?
I’m a proud feline enthusiast! I love cats for their unique personalities and the comforting presence they bring. Witnessing the special bond between a cat and their owner is one of the highlights of my work.
